Two Wounded Rakhine Villagers Die in Yangon

Two wounded villagers by gun-shoots transferred from Sittway hospital to Yangon recently die today.

They were U Oo Kyaw Thein, 63, from Lakkar village Mrauk U township and Aung Lin Kyaw, 38, from Kyauk Tan village, Rathedaung township, Rakhine State, Myanmar.

U Oo Kyaw Thein die at North Okkalapa Hospital on May 15. He was shot by Myanmar soldiers when he was taking shelter as refugee in Baung Dwat village, Mrauk U township, on May 9. The bullets hit his heart and lung. He was stable for a couple days, but his breathing is critical and dies this morning.

Aung Lin Kyaw dies in Yangon today. His wife is pregnant and about to give birth.

He was shot by the soldiers in his village on May 2. Six villagers killed, and seven other villagers were injured.

His bother driving back the deceased body to the village from Yangon tell us he is very sad. “How can I bear with this atrocity. How can I explain it to my sister-in-law,” he said.

Myanmar army does not follow rules of battle engagement but targeting civilians.

So far, our data shows 53 civilians have been killed since Myanmar Army has launched farce military operations in Rakhine State in January.
